Pack Your Bags for a Running Expedition

So far, we have discussed the basic items you need to pack in your bug out bag. But you just can’t slam shut your bag without any organization. Otherwise, you will just be searching for the things you need and trust me it’s really hard to locate items from the deepest pits of your bag. We will share some time-saving tips that will simplify packing bug out bag packing for a running trip.

The basics

First off, separate all the contents by checking their weights. Categorize into heavy, light weight and medium weight items. Now your packing will get more efficient. After that, it’s important to position the heavy items closest to your spine or hip region. Also, placing them close to your shoulders will serve as an ideal position.

Be careful about the placement of dangerous items, weapons or tools. The water supply placed right above the gas burner can be risky in case it leaks.

Thinking about priorities

While you decide to pack, it’s important to think about the most pressing needs. Again, the rule of threes will help you understand your priorities. According to that rule, it will only take you three hours to die if you are out in the cold. This makes shelter your first priority even before water and food.

Without sufficient hydration, you can survive for a week but at a terrible cost. Without water, you will feel exhausted and dizzy to move any further. This makes it your second priority. Food is also essential for survival. Packing food along with the rest of the gear is easy but the difficult part is to keep it safe from spoiling. Well there is a solution to that as well. You should take along dried food. Clothing and protective wear is equally important especially if you are struggling for your survival in tough weather conditions. All these essential items need to be packed in a way that they can easily be located and retrieved on time of need.

The heavy goes to the core

Most of the heavy items in the pack must be kept in such a way that they should remain in the center. But for some rare situations when you are having too many heavy items, consider breaking them down!
